Hi! My name is Ben and I am the creator of The Money Hungry Blog.
From a very young age I have enjoyed making money. The feelings of joy and excitement would overcome me as I opened my safe/wallet/bubble gum jar and pull out the wad of money I had earned from allowance, mowing yards, and doing miscellaneous house chores. I would count the money multiple times a week for months, and eventually go spend it on video games, laser tag, golf clubs, laser pointers, etc. Yeah, okay, I was a normal kid. Who didn’t blow money on “stuff” and things we HAD to have at one point?
Now that I am older (wiser) at 31, I’ve learned how to control my spending, kind of. I still like to buy things, but the “stuff” has turned into “assets.” The assets in focus are dividend paying companies. The idea of buying small pieces of big companies to do all the work and pay me money sounds amazing. I see now that money = time. And nobody values my time more than me.
My wife would describe me as frugal, but I would describe myself as hungry. I’m hungry because I wake up every day striving to maximize my income, savings, and portfolio. I want to make and put as much money as I can to work FOR me, all while making an average salary.
That’s right! I’ve been able to accumulate over a $100,000 net worth by age 30, all by saving and investing my average income.
If I can do it, you can too!
The purpose of this blog is to hold myself accountable and hopefully help motivate you along your path to financial independence. Through this blog, I share my story and how I’ve put myself in the best position possible to maximize my money. Join me on my journey as I save, invest, and grow my portfolio until the day I reach FI.
